DevOps and cloud fors Turbo tuning with Daimler.
Daimler was faced with the challenge of adapting its emissions software to the constantly increasing regulatory requirements and the demand for flexibility. The existing system, characterized by manual processes and outdated IT infrastructure, led to long development and deployment cycles. Our solution: the introduction of DevOps practices and cloud technologies to respond more quickly to changes while reducing operating costs.
On the digital highway
Daimler's existing emissions software was difficult to scale due to its complexity and scope. This monolithic architecture led to considerable inertia, making it difficult to react quickly to new regulatory requirements. Adapting to changing regulations and market requirements often required a lengthy development process.
In addition, the development cycles were severely delayed due to manual processes and the traditional infrastructure. Software delivery took several weeks, which significantly limited agility and competitiveness. This not only led to inefficient workflows, but also delayed the market launch of new functions.
Another major problem was the limited scalability of the existing infrastructure. The complex and unoptimized infrastructure could not meet the growing requirements, which led to high operating costs and limited flexibility. The lack of a flexible cloud infrastructure also made it difficult to adapt resources as required.
To effectively address the identified challenges, we implemented a customized DevOps strategy and migrated the emissions software to the cloud. These two main measures formed the core of our solution, utilizing several key technologies and processes.
Central measures and technologies included:
CI/CD implementation
Jenkins and Azure DevOps made it possible to automate the software deployment process and reduce the deployment time to just a few hours.
Infrastructure as Code
Terraform ensured a scalable and flexible infrastructure.
Automated tests
JUnit, Selenium and Postman improved software quality by detecting regressions at an early stage.
Cloud-native architecture
With Kubernetes and Docker, we set up a containerized infrastructure that increased flexibility, performance and maintainability.
By switching to a microservices architecture, we were able to create an agile, scalable solution that helps Daimler to adapt quickly to changes and reduce operating costs at the same time.
In the world of software development, numbers are often the quickest way to measure success. Instead of getting bogged down in long explanations, let's take a look at the numbers to see how our solutions have brought Daimler to full throttle:
improved Agility with the Customization on regulatory Changes.
less manual Interventions with the Provision of software updates.
Increase the Software availability through Cloudbased Scalability.
lower Error rate with Software updates thanks to more automated Tests.
faster Market launch newer Features through agile Development.
The Daimler project provides valuable inspiration for companies struggling with similar challenges in the areas of regulatory compliance, software delivery or cloud optimization. By integrating DevOps practices and a cloud-native architecture, companies can increase their efficiency, reduce costs and significantly improve their speed of response. For inspiration, you will find a few concrete use cases below and we are of course always available to discuss your specific challenges in a personal meeting.
Automated compliance checks for financial service providers
In the highly regulated financial sector, compliance is crucial. With the introduction of DevOps and cloud migration, companies can automate their compliance checks. By using CI/CD pipelines and containerization, regular audits and regulatory reviews can be seamlessly integrated into the development process. The result: significantly faster and more cost-effective compliance with regulatory requirements without additional manual intervention.
Scalable, cloud-native solution for healthcare data management
In the healthcare sector, companies need to manage large volumes of sensitive data efficiently and securely. By switching to a cloud-native architecture and using microservices, healthcare providers can create a scalable, highly secure platform for managing and analyzing patient data. The use of Kubernetes and containerization increases flexibility while maintaining the highest security standards.
Optimization of software provision cycles in manufacturing
For companies in the manufacturing industry that rely on rapid time-to-market, implementing DevOps and cloud technologies can revolutionize the delivery of software solutions. Automating the build and deployment process through CI/CD pipelines significantly shortens deployment cycles and enables teams to respond faster to market demands. This keeps production efficient, flexible and competitive.
For the Daimler project have we one Selection leading Technologies usedthe Success authoritative influenced:
With Jenkins, Azure DevOps and GitHub, we have laid the foundation for fast, error-free and efficient software delivery that drastically reduces time-to-market.
Thanks to Docker and Kubernetes, we have created a containerized infrastructure that enables flexible scaling and management of applications in the cloud.
With Ansible and Terraform, we have fully automated the infrastructure, which minimizes manual effort and speeds up deployment.
We have implemented automated tests with JUnit, Postman and Selenium to ensure that our software is always stable, secure and user-friendly.
By combining Daimler Cloud and on-prem technologies, we have built a reliable and scalable infrastructure that responds flexibly to all requirements.
The use of PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis has enabled a scalable and fast data architecture that ensures the efficient processing of company data.
With Prometheus and Grafana, we have set up precise real-time monitoring that helps us to continuously monitor performance and optimize service quality.
